Well it’s (fixed) service time - after 4 years my 1.9 130 has now covered the grand total of 38k miles.

There’s now no longer a Skoda dealer convenient to me (that’s not necessarily bad news ) and I don’t expect the two local VW places (both Gilbert Lawton) to be overly welcoming - big notices in the parts dept stating that all parts bought for use on Skoda or Seat are not guaranteed – but I’ll give them the opportunity.

I’m not too happy with the prospect of a new cambelt, but if I don’t do it this year I’ll do it next and I’d be even more unhappy if it failed before then. So, if I adopt the belt & braces approach, what else should I include with the service?

My list so far includes:

Cambelt, with new rollers;

Metal impeller water pump;

Pollen filter sealing fix (no problems yet!)

And even more - anyone with VagCom in south Manchester area willing to tell me which parking sensor is giving me a headache, so I can change it myself?

Add aux drive belts as well, no point stripping the front and not doing them, they will be worse than the cambelt for condition as they have no cover to protect them.
