God how much will this cost!!

Featured Replies

Just about to smoke a car up a nice stretch of road when the car started to make a noise like a gurgling pig. Got home to find that fluid was coming from the nearside steering rack!! Does anyone know if this will be a new rack or just some seals that want replacing?

A big thanks to Lex Diysia for the thread! Just had my new R32 steering rack fitted today:orb_bouncand she feels like a different car much more precise in corners. Had one priced up at dealers for a standard rack and they wanted £474+VAT+fitting. Got mi mate to phone a round and he got the R32 one for £170 all in!! result. Would highly recomend this mod!!

Glad you got it sorted mate. I'm not jealous at all.......much

I've still got mine in the garage to fit :( got to get around the issue of insurance first though...

i cant remember the last time i heard a gurgling pig

Two Words: SWINE FLU :D

Ah... the future is bright :D

Makes a big difference doesnt it?

Kind Regards

visually looks okay.

I mean it sure looks like a steering rack for the 1J platform cars (ours). I would need some kind of confirmation its an R32 one first tho but im not sure how to prove it. Worth a call mind at £50 :)

That's what I'm thinking… oh Lord, when will it all end :rotz:

Just thinking here. Ask him to measure the diameter of the steering arms. Then compare it to the ones on our VRs. The R32 ones were a larger diameter but not the right length. You just swap them over off your other rack and all is well tho

Looks like mine.

It may be worth getting a new one like i did. At just £170 its peace of mind that you wont have to change it again. I did mine in just over 2 hours, but a garage 2 change 1 would have your pants down! I would be gutted having to pay twice.

did you need a ramp to do it though?

I would advise the use of a ramp. Im sure it could be done without but would be a bit more hastle and take longer :)

If anyone in the SE wants one fitted i can arrange that ;)
