V8 versus V12

Featured Replies

Ok, having just seen the Aston 177 clip on Bakers thread, I must admit I like the sound of the car...

But this...

beats the sound of that V12, and is a far better looking car IMO...

My dream car.:drool::drool:

or this one...

(excuse the cheesy title)

Hmmm very nice.

Could you be tempted by one of these though...

I prefer v8s on the the whole though I could be tempted by a 250 GTO with that amazing Columbo engine. Whether I prefer the noise of a 90 degree or 180 degree flat planer depends on my mood: TVR Griffith 500 or Cerbera. It's a toughie!

How about a V16?

Gotta love the sound of that Audi though that Captain Scarlet posted. The little braarp just as it hits the limiter.

Oh yes... the BRM V16. I've got Nick Mason's book "Into the Red" with a CD of this engine and his others (including a 250 GTO:lucky beggar). Trouble is they could only get it running on all 16 for a few minutes. Fantastic engine, way ahead of its time but flawed. The Mason book is a must for any enthusiast BTW

Nothing sounds like a V8 IMO. A 6 or 12 is smoother, but V8....:drool:

Me and my son went to Goodwood festival of speed last year and the best sounding car were the mustangs (modern). We are biasd as we have MG ZT V8 with the mustang engine.

Here is a link to the sound our neighbours love/hate.

Steve.

Ive got that too! I think the clips on YouTube are off the CD that comes with the book as you can hear it missing like it does on the CD....lovely noise though!!
