felicia fun - bloodied nose

Featured Replies

Well today was fun, some complete git in front the guy in front of me decided to slam his brakes on the outside lane of the M6 at rush hour. The guy in front managed to stop but the fun didnt want too and i skidded into him at .. id guess.. around 10 mph. Skinny tyres and sudden stops ... it doesnt work too well does it haha. Fortunately no one was hurt. Whats with people laughing out loud as they drive past, weirdos.

His Zafiras bumper was wrecked, but otherwise ok, the fun, numberplate flew off and the badge and the bumber has some scrapes otherwise ok.

Just glad the airbag didnt go off!

But now i need to get it repaired, id been thinking of getting the car resprayed anyway as its covered in loads of scratches and damage from the previous owner.

Just wondering if i should allow the fun to be written off and buy it back from the insurers for a pittance, use the extra cash to get it resprayed really. Obviously if its a cat d itll lose alot of value anyway so dont care if it goes to a nicer colour (though most love the yellow)

Anyways, long story short Zafira - 0 Felicia - 1

It was a priest driving the "company" car though... im off to hell haha

Chances are it might not be written off or borderline.

Glad no-one was hurt though.

You do know that it will prob be your fault and your premium will also go up.

cant see why yours would be written off. mind you that front bumper of yours can cost up to £500

Yeah i know, strangely i had just happened to look at the parts price just 2 hours beforehand... i was cursed from that point haha

Fingers crossed they will just repair the existing bumper:cool:

Most insurance approved repairers are lazy and like to replace rather than repair (basically they like to milk the insurers for as much money as possible).

I experienced traffic come to an abrupt standstill on the motorway and had to slam on the anchors. Best I can tell is some idiots wanted to take the next exit, but because the slip road was full, just stopped dead in the middle of the road when the traffic was moving fast. Unfortunately for me the slightly binding brake that was advised on in the MOT came back (that I sorted for the retest by pushing the calliper back in a few times) and my O/S/F wheel locked up leaving a plume of black tyre smoke. Luckily the Audi behind me had kept a respectable distance and was able to slow down in plenty of time. I have now stripped down the calliper, filed off the sliding pin orifices and everything moves freely now and no more lock ups.

Yeah i reckon they would go down the replace route too. Ive ordered some alloy wheels with decent tyres for it to replace the shockingly cheapo ones that are on it. Look like £10 a tyre jobbies. Ill strip the calipers down when i fit them.

Otherwise though it seems fine and infact the crash has stopped this annoying knock i was getting from the engine under acceleration... so its done me a favour.. sort of.

Also finally got off my **** and sorted the cooling problem. It was always running cold so checked the thermostat out.....

What thermostat, it had been removed (obviously some tight **** previous owner had removed it after it had failed) all that was in there was a little bit of the old one. It has pretty much cured the smoking problem now its getting up to a proper temperature and stopped it lurching under a constant throttle. All for £6! Bargain i say

Make sure you don't run into any other problems!! My water pump weny then next thing to go was the head gasket!! eeek

Do anything to keep it on the road, but please dont spray it a different colour, Ive not seen one yet that has been sprayed, that looks right, although they do look good with the plastics sprayed the same colour as the body

I seem to remember seeing one in Wakefield with lime green sprayed bumpers and a big green Skoda decal on the tailgate.

I had been contemplating getting it done black but... ive gone off it a little

Might just get the bumper and other fibreglass panels painted the same yellow as has been mentioned.

Its still burning oil :( but without big black clouds coming out of it, so im a little happier haha.
