Warranty Replacement Of Gearbox Oil

Featured Replies

It appears there may be some issue with the oil used in the gearbox of the pd105 as my car (dec 2006 classic) has just had it replaced under warranty. My car was suffering from a lot of vibration and noise and the gearbox snatched quite badly on quick changes from first to second. Got the car back yesterday after them having it all day, and the transmissions is definately smoother and the car is much quieter.

I have other problems which they are looking at, but thats for another thread.

They might have put a different grade of oil in (say ATF etc).

Mine went through two oil changes before they ended up replacing parts of the box and then the whole box

My fathers early 2007 PD105 Passat started crunching when putting back into second gear. VW changed the gearbox oil and cured the problem. Some of the boxes must have been filled with the wrong oil.

well it appears that whatever oil was previously in was very wrong for the car. A lot of months ago i posted a thread here about my dmf and how i thought it was failing, but since the gearbox oil change yesterday i can pull away from the lights relatively quickly and scoot up through the gears without much in the way of shudder. if i put the boot down at very low revs, the car is still not happy, but i think that might just be down to a crappy clutch. i was talking to the dealer and he told me something very disturbing about skodas new policy on faulty dmf's but thats for another thread.

Spill the beans then
