Low speed knocking from front suspension.

Featured Replies

I've had quite a bad knocking sound like something is loose coming from the front offside suspension. Abraham's Skoda took the car in yesterday and went over the entire suspension but couldn't find anything wrong. The noise is most obvious at low speeds over rough road surfaces and is quite low frequency. Anybody got any ideas ?

Drive shaft bolts on that side?

I had a random knocking noise and then suddenly i saw something come out, pulled over, stopped and looked and the car had a lot of grease on the wishbone and a drive shaft bolt just sat there. I think there are are 5 or 6 that hold it in, so while unlikely, it's probably worth checking.

Ive got a noise coming from under the car, Sounds like a baby chick stuck udner my car singing all the time, They are going to replace shock absorber on Friday although not sure if thats the problem. Guess just have to wait and see.

Hopefully they are going to bring the car back in within the next couple of weeks - i listened to the noise while going over some rough surfaces today, and it almost sounds like something repeatedly bouncing off something else. The sound is almost like a knackered shock, but i've push tested both the front ones and there's no bounce at all. It was suggested by the service manager that there was a recall for a bearing at the top of the suspension mount, but the recall didn't apply to my car. it's hard to tell exactly where the noise is coming from, except it's front left of the vehicle.
