What the hell have I done :(

Featured Replies

Oh no, first week of owning a fabia, and ive done some damage! :(

I dont know much about cars engines, but I think I was trying to remove the lambda sensor. Front of the engine ??

And slipping with my wrench, ripped off another sensor, the one right next to the oil filter.

1.4MPI engine.

Thing is, I dont know what these things are, they have numbers on them but I cant seem to find out what they do. And where to get them. I cant really afford main dealer so im trying the local scrappys.

Just to check tho, is the lambda sensor the one which is on the front right hand side of the engine sticking out?

part number on the sensor thing is

1J0973701

the thing I broke has 047 907 601 on it

:(

It looks like you have damaged the speed/crank sensor which I imagine will tell the ECU if/how fast the engine is turning. Does the car start and run? Not sure if there is another sensor somewhere that supplies ECU and this one does something else.

The lambda sensor by the way will be on the exhaust manifold as this is what senses the O2 etc and adjusts engine accordingly.

The first part number looks like the oil pressure sensor wire.

hi there, I have not turned the car on, im leaving it to be honest until I sort out the parts. I think the thing I thought was the lambda sensor is actually the oil pressure switch. god im such a ****. off to the mechanics next time.

Not to worry. At least you know now.
