Removing the passenger seat and other musings.

Featured Replies

HI,

I've got a mk1 Octavia estate and whilst it does most things I want it's not big enough for a couple of things. I've got a fold-up dingy that I want to move and it's too long to go behind the seats of between them over the handbrake.

Is it possible to remove the passenger seat? It looks like the old VW's used to be where you remove a single bolt from under the front of the seat and slide it out of the runners backwards however I can't see what time of fitting the bolt has on the skoda. Is it a case of forcibly removing the offending bit and replacing it with a standard m4 bolt in future?

Ideally I'd like to be able to transport a couple of bikes around without putting them in the boot, Skoda have quoted me £300 to retrofit a tow bar and then more for a bike rack, is there a cheaper way of doing this? The car doesn't have roof bars unfortunatly although the maunal does say they can also be retro-fitted?

The car is an X reg mk1 estate.

I should add it's a standard seat, none of this fancy electronic nonsense.

On the rs it's just two nuts 13mm iirc mybe 10mm though.

Once they are undone its just acase of sliding it forward out of the runners.

Job done.

I assume yours will be the same

Whats wrong with the roof ?

I've been told it's not possible to fit a roof-rack... I'd be happy to be proved wrong however.

There are two nuts facing you as you look at it from the front which I could remove, I assumed you had to remove the silver bolt which goes across the width of the car.

It doesn't look like the rear runners are going allow the seat to be removed forwards either, possibly it's not the same as the rs?

Car is a 2.0 petrol estate, X reg.

undo front 2 bolts and remove the 2 plastic covers over the runner at the rear of the seat and the push seat towards rear seats and out of runners really is simple

the covers are held on by 1 torx 25 screw

Do you have roof bars or is it a combi with out them ? Either way roof racks are available for the octy.... bar or no bars.

There are no roof bars, that was one of the options I was asking about in this thread.

Do you have a link to a roof rack, it sounds like I've been mis-informed.
