Help im locked in!

Featured Replies

Can anyone help me solve a problem with my N/S front door Ocatvia tdi 19 2001 please?

the door lock mechanism works intermittently, sometimes the button pops up and sometimes not (more often that) . Its been fine to open manually for a while and push the button down to lock again, but today, for some reason even if i pull the release handle inside the door it wont open......... any help gladly recieved thanks..

Can you feel any resistance when you pull the handle?

If not then the cable inside the door that connects the handle to the lock mechanism has stretched or snapped.

I found that my cable had frayed at the end when it fixed on the internal handle and ended up too long. New cable from my local VW dealer sorted it. Did take a bit of fiddling to get the old cable detached from the lock, and a tad longer to get the new one in. When mine was broken, I used to wind the window down and open the door from the outside..... classy!

Thanks for those replies. Its not a snapped cable as the button lifts as i pull the door release handle. When i let go it goes down again, when really, it should stay UP as thats what the drivers side door does when its opened manually. Does anyone know if its possible to get at the mechanism without having the door open? Or is it a case of butchering the door card to get into it? Any Skoda technical guys got any experience please? Thanks . Lee
