Just bought my first skoda (after about a year of consideration!) and found your forum. Thought I'd best sign up and say hello as getting some plain english language help will be really useful for me, as my swiss-german tends to let me down the moment I talk to a mechanic

Welcome... was over there last year and saw quite a few Skodas out and about. We toured from Geneva to Grindlewald then up to Basel via Rigi etc, but by train to save the environment; flew home :(

Skodas are doing really well in Switzerland at the moment. Obviously being a mountainous country everybody wants a four-wheel drive estate car for winter sports. This is one of the few places where people can really justify buying the Scout over the standard octavia.

Audis and Subarus used to rule the mountain roads here, but the Skodas are becoming more and more popular and the fact that the people who actually live in the mountain towns are starting to buy them speaks very loudly for the cars capability and reliability. Now I just need to wait 6 months before I can go take my new car and play in the snow
