1.9Tdi 53K service costs?

Featured Replies

Just bought this car, and despite the fact that the indicator says 3K to next service, I'll be getting it done now and getting onto fixed service schedule.

Skoda just quoted £270

In that case, I'll be going the independent route.

Seems to me it only requires a basic service - oil and filters, as brake fluid was replaced at last service.

Anything else that i'm missing, which would justify Skoda's £270 ?

What have you paid at an Indy for annual servicing?

Thanks for any info before I start calling around some Indy garages.

I buy my parts from my local Skoda dealer (they tend to give a bit of discount if you ask), but the prices are already reasonable. Something in the ballpark of

£36 for 507 spec oil

£6 for oil filter

£10 for air filter (roughly)

£15 for carbon pollen filter (again, very roughly)

I then file the receipt for the genuine parts in my car file and get my favourite local garage to fit them, so I get his stamp in my book.

Thanks Wega. Seems like the way to go.

Is the £36 / 507 spec oil the 'long life' for variable servicing?

More used to paying below £20 for good synthetic oil for diesel engines

Is the £36 / 507 spec oil the 'long life' for variable servicing?

Yes it is. 505.01 is standard, fixed interval oil for a PD engine. No harm in using 507 / 506.01 spec for fixed servicing though.

Thanks again Wega

Much easier to understand than my manual, or the Skoda dealer
