Brakes / abs problem

Featured Replies

Oh noes!

I got a problem today!

On my way to work I noticed that my abs seemingly activates under gentle braking...

Under hard breaking it brakes as normal...

I say it's abs but I'm actually not confident it is as the braking is total ****e when I brake gently...

I have searched by the way and couldn't see anything.

No fault lights either...

what are you front tyres like ? new/old

my VRS has really low front tread and when i brake gently , at one junction , turning left , i can feel the usual brake pulse when the ABS is working , i just put it down to the difference in tyre circumference between the front and rear tyres

Hmmm, one is looking a little low psi wise... but other than that, treads are fine :S

It's dangerous that's my main worry.

If I brake softly and try to add more pressure gradually it just seems like the abs goes overdrive and there's oil on the brakes... if you get what I mean, haha.

Not tyre pressure...

It's a bit worrying.

The abs kicks in also, after you've braked hard and are releasing the brakes slowly...

It's also not as harsh in gear and also at higher speeds.

i'd get someone to put VAGCOM on it , to check for codes ,

although i'm sure if there was a problem the warning lamp would be illuminated on the dash

That's what I thought, going to check disks and pads tomorrow and report back :(

Ok, changed the rear disks and pads as they were in pretty bad condition...

No change, abs still kicks in on light braking and the braking is terrible...

Come on guys, someone must know!!

The calipers are free aren't they?
