Fabia 2.0

Featured Replies

I've had a search but can't find any info. Were 2 litre 8v Fabias sold in the uk at all? Or just not popular as I can't seem to find any.

I'm planning on shifting my mk1 Octavia for a Fabia and naturally was looking at a vRS, however with the diesel prices and milage I do, i'm not sure i'd see the return, providing I could find a 2.0 model to compare prices to!!

Yes they were, and they're epic :)

I want one then!

ISTR Honest John saying that the 2.0 Fabia gave you Golf GTI performance for less than Polo money. But since most people don't consider the 2.0 Mk4 Golf GTI worthy to carry the badge, I don't know whether it's a bit of a case of damning with faint praise... :( Certainly, it's the most powerful petrol engine you could get in the Mk1 Fabia, but I've a feeling they're so rare because you could only get the engine in Elegance spec in the UK. Could be wrong, but I do know that both Elegances and 2.0s are pretty rare... :ne_nau:

VW 2.0Litre engine made only 115bhp. I don't think the Fabia version was any different.

It wasn't. Mil's Mustang slayer had a few added extras...

The engine is probably no where near related.. but I was borrowing a 1.6 8v P reg POLO all last week and that was a great engine, instant buzz and it seemed quite torquey.. (though, with out the surge the vRS has).. so I'd imagine a 2.0 8V Furby is actually a fun drive, even if not up there with he speed of the vRS, but no lag!

To be honest, the 2.0 8v engine isn't bad, is a lazy cruiser really... fair amount of low down grunt, but certainly not worthy of the GTI badge (check out the factory sticker on a 2.0 "GTI"... it'll say "Highline" ;))
