Say you pay your insurance in 1 payment for a car that costs £1000. Then after say 2 months you had a crash which was your fault and your car is wrote off. You pay your excess as it was your fault.

You then buy a replacment car. Insurance for this is now £800 due to lower IG.

Are you entitled to your £200 back?

Yes, or at least with NFU you were when this applied to me :)

Depends I guess, was the 800 quid new quote with or without your at-fault accident factored?

With some insurance firms this would be factored into your settlement ending the old policy so you could technically walk away in such an instance.

As ever, depends which insurance co....
