Centre Exhaust Mount?

Featured Replies

I'm having some knocking on the underside of my vrs after having it advised that the centre part of the exhaust was adrift.

I'm under the impression it will be the mount that has come loose as the dealers who initially told me about it said they could probably weld it, if not replace the whole unit.

I've took it to an indy who is going to get it on the ramps and weld it back up if possible on friday ..... just so i know what i'm looking for does anyone have any pictures?

It's difficult to get it on ramps at the best of times so if i get two ticks before its too dark tonight i want to take a quick look myself.

I'm afraid I don't have any pics, but I too have had this problem. If you really want to crawl under the car, the centre mounting is rearward of the catalytic convertor and is almost certainly broken. My local garage welded it up for a tenner and I've had no further problem in 40,000 miles.

I put a large jubilee clip round mine and its been fine for over 15000 miles:thumbup:

I got mine welded for free by Janspeed.

You can reach under the car and just take a photo of it without jacking the car up. That's assuming you don't have T-Rex arms though....

Make sure whoever does it connects one of those jobbers across the battery, so you electrics don't fry when they're MIG welding it.

You can fix it using two jubilee clips also. Did it on mine and its lasted 60k miles so far.

Jubilees on mine too

T-rex arms :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Fortunatly the guy i'm taking it too mentioned he had a "thingymagig" that he puts across the battery to prevent the electrics getting fried ;-) ..... anyone know what they're really called!!??!

Cheers :)

T-Rex arms look like a pain in the ring! Why would you ever want such items? Or do you just want them for the bbq?

A massive killing machine with enormous jaws and legs, fitted with two of the gayest arms ever seen in the animal kingdom. It's as if whoever designed him just ran out of big arms, so had to fit some arms left over from a batch of camp kangaroos he was building.

You wouldn't happen to know approx. which size jubilee clip is needed? Would make my life easier, so I don't have to climb under the car twice :)

Thankyouverymuch!

Edit: to answer my own question, I found the answer here: http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/rattle-under-car/44113/

Answer: two 75 mm jubilee clips.
