Paintwork Warranty

Featured Replies

I have just noticed, because of the rain, that water has somehow got underneath the lacquer etc on my spoiler, and has bubbled up. Where do I stand with regards to warranty on the paintwork? There is no rust visible anywhere, yet the area affected is quite large.

Also, at the bottom of my boot lid, the paint is starting to flake away and look crap....is this covered as well..or is it worth a trip to my local Dealer (12 miles away, and an independent dealer) to see what they say?

Cheers!

For warranty work it will have to be a dealer.

Had a similar problem with my Octy II. Dealer thought that problem was a stone chip that hadn't been repaired that had allowed water under the paint.

Anyhow, he still took photos and sent them to Skoda UK to see if he could get approval. They gave the go-ahead and it was sorted for free.

That was DM Keith's in Leeds.

Just got back from dealers. They have taken photos and sent it off to Skoda for approval. They said they hadn't seen anything like it before, but said it was worth a claim.

They questioned if the spoiler was factory fitted, as some spoilers were an option (surely that still makes them factory fitted though?!).

The wait starts now then to see if I get approved!

Hello Wabey,

My 2005 Fabia VRS nearside front spoiler bubbled up about 6 months from new, and at first dealer was adamant I had hit the spoiler. This was not the case, but dealer did contact Skoda, and it was repaired free of charge under my 3 year warranty.

I did take photos of the effected area, but cannot display them here on Briskoda as I have not joined the "Freedoom" clan yet.

Now car is nearly 4 year old and repair is still quite sound.

Hello Wabey,

Hopefully you can see the flaking paint I had appear on my 2005 Fabia VRS when it were 6 months old.

Gladly it were covered under it's 3 year warranty, and at 4 years old no sign of damage.

Problem with "Briskoda" not downloading ANY of my photos, SORRY
