Rear door permanently locked, won't unlock manually

Featured Replies

Any advice would be greatfully accepted. My octy 1.9 SDI 2001 Y reg, has it's rear passenger door locked permanently, and will not open by pulling the inside door catch. To be fair it's been playing up for a while but used to lock/unlock manually, now it's locked by the central locking, and will not release.

The problem is, the screws to get the trim off are on the side of the door, which is shut!. If anyone has had this before, then I'm all ears.

I bet vrs Stu knows?

Thanks for looking anyway.

Hi milkman,

Have you tried taking power down, by disconnecting battery, and then try the inside door catch?

If you have not tried this thing then maybe it will work here, and door will be open.

Regards for you, and best of luck

Hi, Thanks again, tried disconnecting battery, but no luck. I've had a look at the wires into the back door, and there seems to be one or two severed. I'm not sure if these are like this due to those wires not in use or what, but I am seeking help from my local garage on this, thanks for your help anyway.

My rear door problem is now fixed, it was the broken wires leading into the rear door, and my local garage fixed the fault with some delicate soldering, and reinforcing the existing wires. Many thanks for all the advice given, all relevant, and finally led me to the solution.
