Dash Mounted CD Autochanger

Featured Replies

Anyone know if the later type DIN sized CD autochangers, like those in the MkV Golf and MkII Octy will work with the Symphony head units in a MkI Octy?

(Part No. 1Z0 035 111A)

I have a in dash changer from a golf in my 2001 4x4 Octavia. The original boot changer was missing so I took a chance and bought one from ebay. Had to cut off the plug from the original wiring behind the stereo , join it up to the changer wiring ( has a lead about 12" long ), add in a illumination feed too , pretty sure the wiring was colour for colour. Trimmed a small amount out of the plastic frame behind the stereo for wiring and the extra depth of the changer. I put mine above the HU, and apart from the VW on the front it looks original

Cheers Dave.

Is yours from a MkIV or MkV Golf?

My passat has a 6 disc changer in the dash and it's linked to the same type of VW head unit I put in my Octavia (which worked with the boot mounted changer) so that would work.

I'm not sure on the part number but I can get a pic if it helps.

Mine's a bit different to that. I'll get a picture in the morning.

Don't worry I won't be buying one at that price!

That is the same as the one I used to have in the Bora, so I thought that one would work. The other one is the later type, so I wanted to try to find out if anyone had tried one.

I think mine was from a mk5 golf , seem to remember it was fitted in the armrest. Its like the first one you put the link to on ebay, like I said it just had the wrong plug to go straight into a Symphony HU but there do seem to be a few versions to chose from.
