Unfortunately my first post here is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question!

My girlfriend has just got an mk1 Octavia VRS, and I have to say i quite like it.

But its performance has puzzled me. Firstly it felt slightly quicker than a 215bhp Rover 820 id just got rid of.

Then i strapped the Gtech meter to it and its come up with (after corrections) 197bhp and 220lbs,which is 20bhp short of my ST when measured in standerd spec.

Also its acceleration figures are quicker than id expect, 7.1 to 60? 18.3 to a 100?

I have no reason to believe its been remaped, is there is an easy way to tell or do my above assessments answer my question?

Outputs do vary a bit on Skodas very few are actually under the quoted figure......so 197 isn't too far fetched from the 180 quoted ......but it could still have a mild map on it, can't remember the "normal" 0 - 60 fugures but I don't think they are million miles away from yours

It could well be remapped, a tuner could tell you by taking a look at the map.

Ive got a mate who used to do Revo remaps, ill ask him.

But its performance is puzzling. Its either lighter than I think (1400kg), Or the 180 horses are very healthy (if the figures im getting are indeed close to standard)!

id say mapped with a generic map, if everything else is std? and is it on 95ron?

also depends on how accurate ur kit is? the 0-60 was 7.9 secs iirc in the book the torque was 175????? iirc too

they are a bit lighter than that but not a great deal

Stick a boost gauge on it (t-piece into the pipe going into the top of the fuel regulator) and see if it's making much more than 10psi, if so then suspect a remap.

Valid point about them not always being book figures. Mine rolling roaded at 190bhp and on dyno runs with my Liquid Gauge I was getting 186bhp and it is totally standard. I also had the LG on a 1.8T 4x4 the other week which are supposed to be 150bhp/150ft/lbs and it was 161bhp/169ft/lbs, again completely standard :eek:

Cool,Ill give the boost gauge a try I have a spare one lying around. So I assume its around 10 std and 13 or 14 remapped?

Im not sure of the accuracy of the kit, but for my ST its returning numbers identical to quoted figures (in terms of seconds). And yes its on 95 ron. The BHP figures are adjusted so until i get a baseline i cant vouch for them.

Its either my Focus is down on power and the VRS is quicker than the book numbers as std or as im hoping it is remapped lol!
