1998 Felicia 1.3 won't turn over

Featured Replies

Greetings all.

Turn the ignition key, dash lights up but nothing happens.

I've been informed that there is an exciter unit on the starter.

The feed to this is a yellow cable which is not carrying any power.

I've 'hot wired' with a cable from the 'exciter' straight to the battery.

Car starts and runs perfectly.

Any suggestions as to the destination of the faulty yellow cable??

My first thoughts are ignition switch fault.

Cheers

Fozzy

It sounds like the ignition switch - had this intermittently on my old Felicia.

I once had this on a Golf. I suspected the starter switch, but that didn't fix it. Eventually I found some dodgy wiring where someone had fitted an immobiliser. I had to follow the cabling all the way from the starter, to the fusebox, to the switch, and found the fault behind the dash.

In your case, it's probably the switch :)
