Vrs idle

Featured Replies

picked up a vrs 53 estate for my run about last night but noticed this morning on tick over the revs move ever so slightly.. is this a dodgy sensor or something? any ideas?

cheers Jake

Do you mean just after you started it up, or any time it's idling?

If it's just after start up the revs will be high for approximately 90 seconds then drop to just below 1000 revs, this is the secondary air system warming up the cat and is normal on the vRS.

If it's any time it's idling then try cleaning the throttle body (do a search on here).

no its after warmed up etc

Mine wanders by maybe +/- 50rpm (just a subtle wandering of the needle on the rev counter).

Doesn't seem to be an issue as I get decent power and mpg out of the car. Most likely cause is that the throttle body is a bit dirty. I'm planning to whip mine off and give it a clean at the next service. Apparently an easy job and lots of guides how to do it on the site.

Just need VAG COM to reset after cleaning

I believe (have read elsewhere on the site) that you can clean the throttle body without having to unplug it from the wiring loom. This way you can avoid having to use vag-com afterwards.
