New fuel filter, but no seals

Featured Replies

Hello,

I bought one of this www.vwspares.co.uk a while back to change this weekend, but only noticed that it has come with no seals.

Is this right?

They normally come with the little rubber seal that does on the neck of the fuel fitting. I wouldn't have thought it would be a big issue if you didn't replace it as that part of the fuel system isn't under any real pressure.

Thanks for the reply, but how come some makes come with seals, more importantly wouldn't fuel leak out?

The seals tend to be in a little bag, they've either forgotten to add them or they've fallen out of the box somewhere along the line.

The seals actually fit of the fitting that are part of the fuel system as opposed to the filter itself so it won't be an issue.

Hello,

With the area completely dry after fitting, check for leaks, whether new/old seals are used.

Many thanks Ian, for the excellent picture and advice. From the picture you posted, I could just easily swop the filter without replacing the seals attached.

Thanks again Phil.
