Rain seeping through back door seal into footwell

Featured Replies

Has anyone had this problem? and what to do to put it right:confused:

kittens have been murdered in there thousands because you didn't use the search button

loads of threads on here , very common problem, requiring the rear carrier in the door to be re-sealed

Yes, it's unfortunately quite common. If you still have warranty cover, get it done under that. Otherwise, there's a very good DIY guide on fabia-vrs.com

buy sealant, squeeze on carriers - job done!

Hi and welcome ( even tho it's post no 2) .The bit about the kittens was a jovial way of suggesting that you have asked an oft asked question -probably because you are still finding your way around .This reply is to try and assure you that although the reply seems a bit brisk -we are very friendly on here .The bit about warranty simply means that if the car is less than three years old (and less than 60k) you have skoda UK warranty .Some dealers will do all doors if you are covered -some will only do the front or back - the failure of the door cards is a well known problem. I've been fortunate ( or unfortunate if you look at it that my dealer would only do the front doors under warranty) that mine were done under warranty with the comment that if the cards are screwed they replace the membrane ,if riveted they use sealer .

If it helps any, I am relatively new on here and took a bit of offence at someone who seemed to be condoning the "shooting of Kittens" (still think it's an unfortunate turn of phrase) only to get egg all over my face when some kindly person explained (ooops!). To qualify this though I used to be on a foru I won't mention by name and basically got into a bit of an argument about the same kind of thing but this was genuine ie a bunch of garden concious people who were discussing how to "get rid" of cats. I had my say but it left a bit of a bad taste and I haven't been back on since. So the moral is, we all get it wrong from time to time. Re. your water leak, very common, I have had a few Fabias and they have virtually all had it, some worse than others, worst thing back in the beginnig was dealers who insisted there wasn't a problem, thankfully all behind us now. Hope you het it fixed, sure you will and Welcome to Briskoda. Faskoda.

Check all 4 doors if you go the DIY route, and be sure to avoid silicon based sealants as they don't set as well in damp situations!

To check if a door is leaking, pull the door frame seal back at the bottom, if it's wet in there then that door's leaking.

I had a bad leak on my rear doors that I sealed following the guide on fabia-vrs.com - The Comprehensive Fabia vRS Resource Site. They were leaving water all over the plastic trim on the sides of the rear foot wells as well as the door cards and carpets being damp. Now they're fixed the rubber seals are always dry when I pull them back and peer inside.

The leak on my front doors isn't as bad and I never realised they were leaking until I fixed the rears and still had a foggy Fabia with damp carpets after heavy rain.

It happened to mine and i hear it still happens on the Mk2 Fabia.
