Radio shuts to safe mode intermittently

Featured Replies

Hi,

I own a 2003 Skoda Superb and recently my Radio (Symphony) has been turning off/switching to Safe mode at random; it sometimes comes back on, sometimes it doesnt and sometimes it goes into safe mode for days on end when it suddenly fixes itself..

Anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers,

Seán

Hi, Just to let you know if you do not know already the Radio code or key must be held in the actuall car key for your car.

I disconnected the battery of my car and the radio was reset by switching the radio on when the ignition was off. The SAFE appears on the radio display,

Then turn the ignition to the on position(dont need to start the car). After a few seconds the radio will come out of SAFE mode and should be fine.

Hope this helps. It may be something else though as you say it randomly goes in and out of SAFE mode. Might be a loose connection to the back of the radio or the ground for the radio?.

Thank you; The radio goes into SAFE mode and out of SAFE mode while I am driving. I am thinking that it is more to do with the grounding or loose connection...how do I check that?

The radio is now in Safe mode permanently...I drove over a bump and it has not recovered since. Any ideas?

i can only think its something to do with the radio itself.....how about getting it recoded if thats possible ? i bought a symphony radio cassette for my superb and took out the mp3 player because it was daft having basically two cd players.....and the one i bought came from ebay for around 12 quid plus postage and came with a code...works perfect.......and a cheaper option than buying new from a main dealer
