Koenigsaab?

Featured Replies

Seems as if Koenigsegg, with Norwegian financial backing, is the only prospective buyer of Saab. GM hasn't confirmed yet.

One wonders if a craftsmans shop like Koenigsegg, producing 15 cars p.a. and not really competing on a market has the experience needed for industrial car production.

Norwegian experience is limited to the Troll (late 50s) only five cars were ever built:

If they just parachute in a Chief Executive and keep the rest the same, then as long as not too many people leave when the sale goes through, surely it'll be fine. Then again, I used to love Saabs - but now they're just outdated Vauxhalls / Opels, of course...

Take and old turbo saab (9-3 aero or similar size), drop in engine from Koenigsegg.

FTW!!! :P

Not true about the Norwegians; they do make electric cars.

Now, if Koenigsegg can take the vaux back out of Vauxsaab...

i used to like saab until the 900 was replaced by the new 900 in 1993 though i did consider buying one of those..... once drove an old shape 900 GLs saloon was fun..... despite its size....

You got me there. I deliberately left out the "Think" - not half as exciting as the "Troll" - imagine a 700cc 2 cyl 2 stroke engine with Bosch injection system! And plastic body. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(automobile)

Well Saab is now owned by Koenig!

How about a 9-5 Aero Zonda edition?

Good luck to them. Hope they make a go of it. Would be good for the market if there was a viable 'leftfield' choice.

I think they'll, if their smart, make Saab more sporty and more of a choice to the A4/A5/A6 RS drivers.

GM ownership, and the hefty price tag for a Vectra chassis didnt do the brand much good.

Or go back to the original 99 / 900 / 9000 concept of being hugely comfortable inside without compromising on-road competence.

I'd pay more for quick and comfortable than for a mega-jiggly ride.
