Symphony radio problem

Featured Replies

Trying to play mp3s from my TomTom via FM transmission to the radio, the bloody thing keeps retuning itself to the strongest local station.

I've been through the manual and can't see anything obvious.

Anyone else had this?

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I have the same car model, same age, same radio and I have stored some weak stations to radio buttons.

First, make sure you are using a frequency that is not used by popular stations - I suggest the first or last frequency in the FM band for your TomTom "station".

Secondly, make sure you are storing the "station" as per the instructions for Manual Storing on page 14 of Symphony user manual. This works fine me for storing frequencies used by weak broadcast stations at air shows etc..

Have a look at page 19 of the manual for the "REG" settings. I think you need to turn it to "REG OFF"

You haven't got TP turned on?

One further thought. Is the FM modulator in the Sat Nav stable and not itself changing frequency?

Test it by listening to the Sat Nav transmission on a portable FM radio. If it does the same on that as on the car radio then the Sat Nav is at fault. (you will have to get the two quite close as most Sat Navs put out a very weak signal). You may also find that the Sat Nav can be found on another frequency once the car radio has switched to a stronger station, again indicating that the Sat Nav FM modulator is unstable.

After sdenny's suggestion I double-checked that TP was off, only to find that the button's ****y. The TP indicator in the display doesn't always come on or go off when the button's pressed.

With no indicator in the display, I just assumed it was off.

So, problem solved and many thanks to all who contributed.
