Interior Change Octavia Help?

Featured Replies

Hi there, Recently bought my Octavia and am more than pleased especially with that TDi Engine under the bonnet wow :)

Anyways I've going to tart it up a bit, as I always do with my cars, like most man :rotz:

I hear that the seats out of a Golf, Leon and A3 are a direct swap.

Which ones do you recommend and are cheapish, I saw those R32 leather recaros in someones octavia and  but I can't afford them :thumbdwn: Saw some L + K on Ebay but then the cream won't match the plastics.

With regards to plastics, someone drilled through the grey plastic in between the glovebox and centre console which looks a right mess any idea where I can get this from and how to remove and fit it?

Oh and whilst I'm here the centre console is that only thing in the car that feels cheap, the VRS ones seem to have a stitched leather handbrake cover and look a little different recommended? additional cupholders or anything do they have?

But only the door cards are Octavia specific am I right?

Also with mine being a pre-facelift 99 MY will the facelift doorcards fit from a 2000+ model fit straight in?

Any idea how you take the seats out and get the doorcards off, haven't purchased a haynes manual yet but I'd really appriciate the help :D;)

Plus if I get a Seat with side airbags is the wiring already there to plug in and can I code it using my Vagcom cheapie cable from ebay? many thanks.

the golf GT TDi ones are nice but a later model(51 plate on) is better as they have the lumbar support and are a good bit deeper.

only two nuts at the front of the front seats and the plastic covers on the runners, the rears come out with a flick of a screwdriver and the push of a springy metal bit. really easy!

The one big thing with the seats, although the runners and the fitting bolts are in the same place the wiring for the airbag is likely to be different so make sure you get both sides of the plug on the seats you buy as you will need to re-wire your harness. It's not as bad as it sounds, theres only 3 wires.

The front door card removal.

Pull out the Tweeter

using a torx bit unscrew all screws round the outside edges of the door card

pop off the inside of the door handle

unscrew the door handle

Undo the screw hidden behind the door opener silver thingy

I think thats about it, then lift your door card upwards and towards yourself, don't pull to hard as you will need to unplug all the wiring to the door card before you take your card too far. The door cards are specific to the Octavia, Golf cards will NOT fit.

I've had the Golf GTI blue/black cloth, Golf Recaro grey/black cloth and now onto some Bora GTI grey/black cloth seats. The Recaros were the comfiest for me, the foam is very firm but holds you nicely the GTI seats are still much more supportive than the OEM Octavia seats.

be wary of the S3 seats, they are nice but the base is very short, and if you are on the tall side of average you may find they don't provide sufficient leg support
