EPC light on Octavia 2 VRS P0601?! HELP!

Featured Replies

Help! just reversed off my folks driveway tonight and the EPC dash light came on. tried turning the engine off and on again a couple of times and CEL light came on too! eek!

took it straight round to a mates and hooked up his Mac Tools hand held diagnostic doofer came up with P0601 (16985) Engine Control Module. reset straight away but the EPC light came back on within in seconds of driving home!

there is no loss in power and the car feels the same as always! i was meant to be driving from Nottingham to glastonbury on wednesday but i'm a bit reluctant now.

gonna try to get her booked into skoda tomorrow but if i can't.......any ideas? should i still be driving it?

My car has developed an identical problem,

Code PO601, EPC & CEL with no loss of performance or economy.

What was the outcome when you went to the dealer?

new ecu needed. about £1500 fitted. glad i bought that warranty now!!!!!

I've got my car booked in for Thursday to have the ECU re-flashed. Did some searching & found out that my car had not had the voluntary recall 24k5 which apparently cures errant engine problem warning lights.

My own dealer was no use at all, had to phone some other dealers to confirm the info.

No drop in performance, fuel economy unchanged, EPC & CEL lights on. Put on VAG COM it clears but comes straight back. Its not had 245k5 update.......

They all said that my dealer should have contacted me & after arguing with the dealer on the phone 4 times they finally found that when they sold me the car they had entered my chassis number incorrectly & there are outstanding updates for my car

Just have to wait & see if it works now

All sorted, had the ECU re-flashed FOC.

Warning lights all off, long road test carried out with no problems
