No kid,3rd gear is not so easy to locate.

What to do?

Quite a lot of stuff to read on a forum search,it's floppy side to side in neutral more than otherwise.

It's this joint on the linkage :-

Suppose it needs new plastic washer thingies

Also needs Gaiters ,bottom of gear lever,and that one after the pictured UJ (selector shaft).

Jorily,my 1998 1.9D Felicia estate has the most awful buzzing and rattling coming from the gearlever also.

Now,browsing your site I see a couple of potential fixes but the ? is which should I consider first,the actual selector rod and joint OR the Gearlever Repair Kit ?

The Skoda dealer doesnt sell plastic washer thingies to repair my UJ as above picture,they sell the complete assembly at £64 + :eek:

Is it swappable with the repairable type (maybe from a breakers).

They revised the linkage after 1996 and it doesn't have that UJ anymore. It is possible that the newer linkage would swap straight over as it is a lot cheaper and as you say if you were to get one from the scrappers you could just repair it with new bushes etc.

I have the same problem with mine but havn't got round to doing anything about it yet.
