Fabia 1 Fault code 00818 again!

Featured Replies

My A/C is not blowing cold air as it should, been re-gassed approx 3 months ago and had no leaks.

Scanned for fault codes and 00818 appeared.

As I understand it is the evaporator outlet temp sensor which is causing the problem.

I have used the search function and have found around 16 threads on the subject however, in one of them it has a link for a how to all I get is a 404 error and the page cannot be displayed. Can anyone re post the info or point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

Can anyone else help?

If the sensor is not working, as the fault code clearly indicates, then the control module has no idea of the temp of the air. As a result, it will not turn on clutch to the compressor.

So, a faulty sensor in a closed loop system will result in the exact problem you describe - warm air from the air conditioning.

You need to get to a wiring diagram and check on the sensor wiring or on the sensor itself.

You could get a factory scan tool out and look at the live data (measuring block data) to view the actual output of the sensor. My guess is that the output from the sensor will show no valid data which is why the fault code has been thrown.

It's in the heater box to the left of the clutch pedal. You need to remove the right hand lower dash, followed by the black box (convenience unit) next to the clutch pedal. You'll need small hands and a lot of patience whilst working in a not very comfortable position.

Skodas official way is to remove the entire dash. The new sensor is around £20
