WRC Spoiler...let the debate commence.

Featured Replies

I recently saw a red octy vrs with a WRC spoiler, and having previously thought it looked out of place, im starting to want one myself. Firstly I wanted to get some opinions from all you lovely folkes as to whether there are different types of replicas, and secondly I was wondering where I could get one on the cheap.. For example... I don't fancy spending this much :

Rear Spoiler for Skoda Octavia WRC Style

And thirdly... do you think they add some much needed aggression to the rear end? or do they look tacky and chavvy.... I'm thinking a little bit of both

Any help appreciated

I think they look alright on cars where they are black and the bodywork is a different colour, e.g. red, yellow or a green one that was on here recently (not a vRS though).

If the same colour as bodywork they look a bit boring.

And they ruin the "sleeper" look that the vRS has from the back.

The one to go for is the WRC replica with the little lip on it.

You might want to check out the debate we've just had after I fitted mine!!

The only difference is that yours is a VRS. In other words your front and rear bumpers are different. It would also be lower but I've already had mine lowered to at least VRS level. However despite the two cars being virtually identical a big chunk of the forum think the WRC spoiler works on the VRS but not on the Elegance. Others just don't think it fits the colour of my car. All opinions are valid of course, apart from the ones that are wrong!

When I first put it on:

And after I fitted the 18" alloys:

Have fun reading all of that!!!

Oh and mine was £45 delivered from eBay. Second hand but not previously painted. It wasn't perfect though and as a result the finish doesn't look great close up.

There are some brand new ones from Eastern Europe on there for under £100 delivered. They look ok but there's always the risk that they'll weigh a ton when you receive them.

I don't reckon a standard vRS deserves such a big spoiler as it doesn't have the performance to match. Evos and Scoobies do as they are way faster and it suits their character. A 180bhp hatchback looks daft with such a big spoiler and borders on the Saxo/C2 realms of chavviness.

Mind you, I prefer the stealth approach.;)

Also as an afterthought, perhaps a 300bhp Octavia might be deserving of such an adornment, but even then it is still a bit shouty.

Imo only an octy the caliber of des's car can pull off a spoiler like this one, because it has the power to match the looks.

Agreed, IMO they look really chavvy and dont suit the octy. they seem a bit to oriental aswell which doesnt go with the rest of the car.

Bang on my outlook! Not fast enough to warrent it. Also even if it did, its not what the vrs is about imo.

I think what spoils the look with the larger spoiler Is the fact It makes the rear look proportionally high up & everything on top. If the Octavia had a lower rear bumper & flared arches It would probably look ok.

I'm not saying It looks pants on all, some do look ok. I saw Micheal Balai's car at Chatsworth & his looked really good & It suited the theme of his car.

I know It would look pants on mine.

Totally agree, which is why i'm unsure about looking into one for mine, as my car is standard. Just a little off subject, but what did you do to your rear bumper? as in is that just an add-on or a completely different bumper than standard? looks ace

Thanks:thumbup:

Its a Milotec diffusor, Its just an add on. Road and Sport Developments Ltd. Skoda Octavia Rear Spoiler and Apron

It gives the rear bumper a different, but subtle look.;)

Great stuff  , is it an easy install? I've been thinking about ways in which i can make the back of my octy a little more obvious than standard. I appreciate the whole stealth ethos attached to the octy, which i love, i'm just throwing some ideas around to see what changes i can make without making it look like i went on a shopping spree in halfords.

p.s it is the 414 / 06 that you've got isnt it?

ta :)

Yes 414/06 is the one I have. It only comes in the carbon design only. I ended up colour coding It.

Its an easy install. Either use double sided tape as I first did or permently bond It on like I have just done:thumbup:

Like Oggy says 'some octys suit the wrc spoiler (glad he said mine:thumbup:) and some dont.

All depends on if it suits the car is going on. For example my car was modified interms of coilovers, alloys and front bumper mod.

just a thought which i know is going away from the WRC spoiler but is there a ducktail spoiler for the VRS like what you get on audis as i think they look the bo**ocks and are more suited to the VRS than a big spoiler.

Sounds good, get searching. Maybe someone could photoshop one on.
