6 CD Quirks

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just a quick question about the 6 CD in the Boot.

I'm finding that it is starting to act up a bit lately. It was perfect when i got it first (18months) but it seems to be taking a while to load the CD i want, and if it is a custom CD it will often go BEEP ....and "CD ERROR" appears on the screen and it switches over to the radio. :(

I

t has even done this on proper purchased CD .but they are few and far between these days

Can i use a CD cleaning system or whats the best solution ?

Thanks in advance

Tom

Is the car still under warranty? I had this problem with my previous Octavia and the unit was replaced without argument.

No she's an 06 . Hopefully it's not banjackst.

I thought that i could just get one of those cleaning kits,

now that i think of it, i do recall noticing that the CD changer was scratching the CD's !!

It could be dirt on the laser for reading the discs that is causing the problem.

I have had "CD ERROR" occur on the 6-CD player when a phone charger was plugged into the cigaratte lighter. If I plugged my TomTom into the lighter socket then the CDs (ones i've burnt) play perfectly. As soon as i swapped back to the phone-charger the "CD ERROR" came back again, within 30seconds.

It used to be okay, so I can only think a problem has occurred on the charger and it is causing a voltage drop, which in turn affects the 6-CD player. Very strange!

Had CD error the other day ... because i'd put a DVD in by mistake!

Apart from that no problems.
