Phone Slumming

Featured Replies

Well, I've sold me N85 due to bluetooth issues with me chariot. I'm sad to see it go, and I'm sure I'll be itching to get back to Nokia within a couple of weeks. I'll also be missing the smartphone features as well no doubt.

My new communication hub is a Sony Ericsson C510

I got it for £79.99 from prepaymania, and for the money, it's really not too bad. The good bits are the bluetooth, the UI is really simple and easy to use, the messaging is pretty straightforward, and it makes calls!

It has a few apps that I've not tried properly and an accelorometer  It does video and has a 3.2MP camera that I haven't really explored either.

All in all pretty good value for money. The main thing I'm missing just now is WiFi :( and for that money, you have to buy your own mem card.

The N85 had an accelerometer

Did you try and get the car FW update I mentioned from the dealer? It really is all that was needed, and is a well documented issue.

Yes, I had the Beemer in to the local dealers for two whole days recently. They set off upgrading the idrive at 9am on the first morning, and it didn't finnish til 12pm the following day. Still no bluetooth integration. I challenged the guy at the dealers and he just said "check the BMW website. If it's not listed, it won't work."

The N85 isn't listed. I suppose neither is the SE C510, but it just works.

I know the N85 has an accelerometer. i just thought it was cool that they put one into a boggo SE PAYG mobile.

IIRC they've been there for years thanks to the US and homeland security. It's only recently the software developers have produced anything we want to make use of them.

The BT stack hasnt changed since the N95, so odd that the FW update didnt fix it for you. Was it an independent or main dealer?

My nephew got a Piephone 3G today and he put the 3.0 firmware onto it straight away. I went over to test the bluetooth connection on the car, and it connected up straight away, and displayed all the contacts. Worked really well.

He also works for O2. Hmm 32GB Iphone 3GS on a friends and family tarrif.......:o
