Help!

I've bought a Thule 9106 rear mounted bike rack to fit to my Octavia Elegance estate (facelift). Because of back problems, a roof mounted rack was unsuitable, and I couldn't afford the towbar option.

Various websites confirm that this is the right model, but it is proving to be a real nightmare to fit. It is impossible to get the top hooks to fit into the gap between the boot lid and the body.

My other concern is that in very small print it says " not suitable for the majority of cars with spoilers or plastic door surrounds"

Does anyone know if the bit at the top of the boot (containing the third brake light) is plastic or classed as a "spoiler"?

Any rapid advice would be readily appreciated as I want to take the bikes to France next week!

Maybe you could test it with a magnet to see if its plastic or not?
