Fabia vrs self service

Featured Replies

HI all

I'm thinking of servicing my fabia vrs myself, just want to do the usual oil change and change the air,oil and fuel filters but i'm wondering about the onboard computer which says it needs a service now everytime i start it, is there anyway of resetting this or do i have to bring it to a dealer to get it serviced ?

Thanks in advance

Billy

Ok will do, yes it's out of warranty, wouldn't be doing it otherwise.

Hello Billy73,

As 'Lummox' said, (check your manual), or "Haynes" manual will tell how to reset "Oil" or "Service" dash messages.

Removing battery etc to check power steering level, you will then have to reset one-touch window control and radio/cd player. Radio/cd 4 digit code can be found on inside cover of radio/cd manual that came with car.

You will need a M16 x 12 spline key to check gearbox level.

Renewing fuel filter (I found) did not require bleeding system, (I filled filter up with diesel) and I kept cranking engine over, till it fired up.

Good-luck. Ian. 01/07/2009 :D:thumbup:
