Do I have the dreaded rear camber issue?

Featured Replies

I've been reading all the issues that people have had with their unevenly worn rear tyres.

I checked mine yesterday and noticied the following tread depths:

NSR 3.5mm / 4.5mm / 2.0mm

OSR 3.0mm / 4.5mm / 2.0mm

measurements are taken from the outside shoulder (the edge of the tyre where there is still full contact with the ground) / centre / inside shoulder (i.e. both inside shoulders are 1.00mm to 1.5mm more worn than the outside.

Pressures are set to around 2.8 (bar I think) and are Dunlop Sport Maxx XL on 18" rims.

Car (TFSI) has done 22k miles, no towing and rarely heavily loaded and is on an 07 plate.

Should I get it checked or does this sound more like the tryes? Fronts appear evenly worn.

Thanks

R

Seems a little odd that they're on 2.8 Bar, yet you've got such large shoulder wear compared to the centre of the treads (if I've read your measurements right).

40psi & still getting edge wear:confused:

You have done 22k miles on a single set of tyres. Who cares if they are wearing uneven ;)

Seems to me you have two issues:

  1. camber
  2. low tyre pressures. try 3 bar

Your kidding?

Without seeing the tyre it could be half a dozen problems - excessive -ve camber & excessive toe-in spring to mind.

Yeah I thought that too. That's around 43 psi

I don't think tyre pressure is your problem here.

You do not need pressure that high, even loaded up.

If you are running the car loaded at all times like I do (works car - spares) then inner edge wear is an evil we have to put up with.

Empty you shouldnt be pushing more than 35psi.
