Favs keep on goin in the rain!

Featured Replies

Had a massive storm the other night and i want to know why skodas have such a bad name..... the floods here were like rivers and aslong as arctic trucks came up to the bottom of the car! went through 5 floods like it and the car just kept on going there was brand new cars there sat dead all it had was a slight miss-fire and the water cracked the exahust down pipe, missfire was gone in the morning and it started on the key! this may be off topic but seems to me even the older skodas are reliable, and people laughed when i brought it as im onli 23 and this is my 2nd fav :D :D ok im done now sayin how great i think these cars are but i wonder if newer ones that are full of electrics would stand that much water ?

Yes never broken down in mine. Not that I haven't had problems that need attention but never been stuck on the hard shoulder waiting for the RAC. Reading stories of people in brand new cars breaking down more than once makes you realise how lucky you are when you have a 14 year old car that just trundles on :)

A lot of new cars have low air intakes, hence the flooded engines and breakdowns

Eek! Guessing that was when the hot exhaust was rapidly cooled by the water.

Have been through a few floods in my Felly too although if I see any other cars conked out I generally won't go for it as I have had a bad experience with flood water and my engine being flooded before (not this car).

Lol... Just my old Citroen ZX 1.9D I had. Took it along a flooded road and it was only then that I discovered that it had a low set air intake! One deaded engine and a tow from RAC later I sold the car for scrap value and then got Nelly!

A lot of people don't realise the perils of floods when in their cars. Even just a small amount of water sucked up can seize the engine!
