Superb vs Audi A6

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I was wounding, there have been alot of discussions comparing Superbs with Passats. I noticed yesterday when I sat in a A6 that size wise its very similar to the Superb. In addition some of the internal components looked similar. What is the general view?

I've decided to leave a company car scheme where I'm driving an A6, and buy a Skoda Superb SE model. I looked at the latest Passat, and just found poor implementation of features that the A6 does well - e.g. the electronic parking brake. I also found many features - e.g. the push in starter key that were gimmicky at least, and felt less well made than the fisher price toys my children had years ago and still work :-)

The Superb on the other hand was surprising - I got inside it and thought - hmm - this feels like the A6. Oh - the key is the same, these controls on the steering wheel feel the same, etc etc. Actually I much preferred the layout of the controls on the Superb - the control wheel in the A6 is a fun toy to start with, then frankly gets to be rather annoying after a long time. It's not that intuitive.

Drive wise, the 140TDI superb was less "dynamic" than the petrol 2.0TFSI A6, but that's fine - it's a very comfortable ride (as far as I could tell so far anyway). The passat was floaty and inprecise by comparison.

Lastly - the twindoor. Nicely done - I can imagine times when I'll use it - and be glad about it. That would be a £1500 option on an A6.

Basically I feel good about spending my own money on a Skoda Superb with all the features it has - and can't see why I'd spend considerably more money on an A6.

Wrong superb again! :)

Plus the Mk2 Superb has nothing to do with the longitudinal engine layout Audi A6 chassis, past, current or upcoming. Mk2 Superb is based on transverse engine extended Golf chassis.
