Electronic Check Light

Featured Replies

Having just got home from buying my Octy from the garage (40 miles away) I was shocked to see that the Electronic check light came on the next time I started the casr and the car started misfiring :( . I checked and somehow one of the plug leads had come away. i have now reattached it and the car is running ok but the ECL is still lit.

Will it reset itself or do I need to get it reset?

A 2 Ltr?

Coilpacks? Do they have the same as the 1.8T?

What service was it?

just bought the car and they did a pre-collection service. Assume it was not put back on properly

Car has done 75K

Will the ECL reset?

I might be wrong but I thing the check light will need to be re-set by the dealer or someone with VAG-COM. Where are you btw?

If you're absolutely sure that you know what was wrong, the quick'n'dirty way to reset this light is to unhoook the battery for a few minutes (won't need more than 10 mins). If you decide to do this, ensure that you've got your radio code.

following on from the CEL - I spoke to the garage I bought the car from and they think there is a problem with the Camshaft sensor. The light has now turned itself off and the car is running well.

As they are willing to change the sensor foc is it worth getting it done anyway (unsure on future costing if it were to go later)?
