How to Access Central Convenience Unit

Featured Replies

Hi, I have used the search for the past 2 hours and I have found out where the Convenience Unit is. My question, How do I access it. Is there a guide that can be of use? Thanks.

Physically access, or access via vagcom to tweak stuff?

Physically access plese

Just a guess, but based on the Fabia, I reckon it would be behind / above the driver's side knee panel... :ne_nau:

Ok. But how do i get to it? What screws do i have to unscrew and what way do i have to pull the dash on the driver's side? Btw, if a screw for the fuse box has been cross threades, how can this be remedied?

Cheers

Peter

Well, as I say, my experience is on the Fabia, and this guide tells you where it is ON THE FABIA:

...it may help, it may not - but obviously it won't be exactly the same!!! ;)

Is the crossed thread for a screw into the chassis or connecting two plastic parts? If it's between two plastic parts, then there will be a little metal plate that the screw goes into, so you should be able to remove the screw and put it back in again properly without too much trouble.

Hope this helps...

It is the screw for the fuse box, i'm not saure if it's a metal plate or not. the bottom screw went in ok but the top which was tight to come out became cross threadded an i realised too late.

to remove the trim in front of the conv unit you need a torx 20/25 (cant remember which) there are three screws on the bottom, one or two in the fuse bit and a hidden one behind the light switch (you can prise the switch out to get to it. then the trim will come out OK make sure when putting it back that the white locating clips are lined up properly or the lower pieces will move about above your pedals. Another question, what does it look like?

small box next to the steering column with 2? plugs coming out of the front/

Thanks, the wiper relay was mistakenly removed yesterday :ashamed: Imagine my surprise this morning when i went to operate the wipers. Anyway the CCU is out and being checked today along with the front door motors. Removing and refitting that dash panel causes skinned fingers and sometimes requires a liberal amount of swearing if not careful
