bluefin stage 2 fitted with 3"Dp+cat

Featured Replies

Installation

I installed my pipewerx DP and Cat from hoffmeister today. luckily I have a hydraulic vehicle ramp in work and only took me an hour and a half start to finish. nice and easy, although was a bit confused at the new gasket which had elongated holes in it, that only just made the lugs on the turbo. Nothing that a bit of persuasion didnt sort though. i was also to impaitent to let the turbo cool down, which wasnt my best idea of the day.:o

It also mated with the standard Cat back system with no issues at all.

After finishing i initially thought i had an exhaust leak from the turbo then realised it wass the copious amounts of WD40 i had sprayed burning off:O.

What Map

I have the sdtage 2 de-cat bluefin remap installed on her evn though it has the 200 cell exhaust, reason being i will be changing to a De-Cat exhaust on days at the nurburg ring, and the superchips technician said it would run Both exhausts with no problems.:)

Comparison with stage 1

there is now a massive increase in torque compared to stage 1 especially in the mid range, and it is spread over a longer rev range. today the roads were wet, and the traction control was going absolutley mental, so ill mostly be taking it easier than before on the loud pedal. but once rolling it pulled extremely hard.

Im going to give it another bash when it is dry, get my tyres all warmed up, then give it the beans.

Also on tick over i could here absolutley no difference over the standard exhaust, and a slighter deeper burble when revved, but ultimately not that different at all, and is certainly not intrusive.

Issues

I have got a little hesitation in 3rd gear in the mid range, like a fuel cut, im going to lket the map bed in for a dfay or two then see if it improves. I will be getting a fuel pump upgrade anyway so its not to much of an issue.

over all very impressed. When i am back in UK next I will be going back to JKM for a RR session and will be sure to post it up as soon as it is done.:D

Nice work mate! let us know how you get on with the numbers.........damn i miss my car :(

ive not installed that D revsion DV yet, they needed the ramps back so ill do it tomorrow dinner time so hopefully ill hold boost a little better then. the mk5 gti lads seem to think it hold boost really well so i think yours might have been a tad dodgy maybe.

Nice, stage 2 up makes them into a little beast:D. What's the best way to swap the DV? Bottom cover off from underneath? Can it be got from the wheel well? I can't get access to a lift for another 2 weeks and it's getting tiring going around with about 100bhp, can't be good for the windmill either:thumbdwn:

you need to go underneath really. dead easy job, just awkward. i used a trolley jack that time and laid underneath when i put my dv spacer on. it took 15- 20 minutes to take it off add the spacer then put it back on. so id have a go, you just need allen keys and patience, oh anfd a cool car or your virtually guarantee'd to touch somthing hot

Are the allen key screws or torx? You just took off bottom cover?

just checked, allen keys for the Diverter valve, and torx screws for the bottom cover

replaced my DV andhesitation is sorted now. It seems it may have either been my DV causing it or the ECU has now adapted to the new settings etc:thumbup:

Did you jack it up this time?:) Going to try and fit mine later.

no i used hydraulic ramps. i used a trolley jack last time though and it was awkward.

either way you do it the three bolts are awkward to get to. if my car was running around as if it was 100hp id be under it I know that for sure

Its funny, thats exactly what happened to me too. I fitted the DP/Cat and a DV and got hesetation in 3rd at about 4K rpm then changed my DV and it stopped. I presumed my DV was holed. Maybe your DV was on it way out too but its certainly an odd coincidence.

Roll on the fuel pump mate, very keen to see if it makes as much of a difference as calimed.

Oh it does , on heavy modded cars:D

here are stage 2 maps for some guys golf GTI. he ad issues with fuel cut. it has 3 power runs.

1st stage 2 software

2nd stage 2 software and fuel pump

3rd stag 2 fuel pump specific software and fuel pump

all he had donr to his car on top of this was a miltek DP and cat, and a panel filter

Here are the graphs :

you can see the hesitation is exactly where we have had ours so i guess its a common thing with bluefin. with a decent air intake and intercooler theres potential for more there.

I will be going stage 2+ with bluefin but at a later date but i will be changing to REVO or APR(not seen any stage 2+ graphs for APR yet)

i think you have your wires crossed there.

the std downpipe is 2.5"

miltek Dp is 2.75"

pipewerx is 3"

That was the answer I was looking for, purely to see if the ebay one is a viable option, cheers.

mine waas from the ebay pipewerx site. I just have the DP and CAT with no cat back exhaust, and it gave a much deeper burble from the engine. I love the sound.
