Climate control - what is the appeal?

Featured Replies

That's the thing about climate. You want it, you pay extra for it, and if you get it and it works well you never touch it.

Funny isn't it, they have a big expensive fancy panel taking up a large amount of the facia, for something you never touch!

Worth every penny though!

I'm surprised by the answers here, I'm always fiddling with the controls in mine (Mazda) and the same goes for Civic, Golf and Ceed I would drive.

Still, having recently spent 2 weeks in Greece with manual air con, it useful to have the "one-touch" capability of climate control. You soon get fed up with the pre-flight check of switching off air con, moving the fresh air/re-circ lever, changing the temp and the airflow between night and day driving (tbh maybe I just got fed up with driving a hyundai accent)

I think it's the best thing ever, it also means that when you're driving someone, they see it and dont know what it is so they leave your heater controls alone, but then you get the guy that has to mash in every button it has, which annoys me to no end!!

18 degrees is a bit chilly,20 is comfortable

My reasoning for 18C is in 3 parts:-

1) I find driving a "warm" activity.

2) I rarely do journeys long enough to make not wearing a jacket whilst driving worthwhile.

3)I don't normally have to consider passenger comfort.

Clmatronic panel takes up no more space than regular heater controls. Given how low it's set, set-up and forget is a positive road safety measure!
