Loaded tyre presures.

Featured Replies

Currently have a new set of Toyo T1-R's on my vRS TDi.

My question is can anyine recommend better tyre pressures than those on the fuel filler cap? Car will be loaded with 2 suit cases, pram, and various other bits of junk...

2.1 bar front

3.0 bar rear.

You should be running at least 32PSI.

30psi front, then 43 rear seems very wrong and asking for trouble. To much of a gap.

IIRC, I found that 36psi front / 34psi rear worked quite well on my Proxeses, and was a good compromise between grip and wear (the shoulders wore terribly if they were any softer). This wasn't quite the cold temperature, but however warm the tyres got in a 3/4 mile 30mph run to the garage by my works. (That's 2.5bar / 2.3bar, near enough BTW...)

I run mine with 2.7 front and 3.1 rear, regardless of load (of course I don't dynamically stress tyres with speed when full packed).

I find standard values way too low for my tastes. No problem on my highways or town coasting. I would give it a try, if I were you, unless you walk on pot-holed roads.

I tend to run 34 all-round. Maybe up a little for the rears, if you're regularly hauling stuff, perhaps by 2psi.

I have to agree that the front pressure recommendation has always seemed too low. Will make sure they are up before we leave, and will be mostly doing motorway cruising.

2.5 bar front

3.0 bar rear

I always use the maximum load pressure values since I drive mostly on highways or asfalt roads. The lower values are meant for comfort on uneven roads. Less comfort and more stability/control is what I prefer. I notice by too high pressure on the front wheels (2,7 bar) that I have less control over the steering.

Nobody believed me how long my tires (up to 90k km) lasted on my previous car, since I always used max load values and check the pressure every few weeks.
