Speedo/Rev counter problems

Featured Replies

Octavia 1.9 GLX TDi(1999) - My speedo, rev counter, fuel gauge and engine temperature gauge have started to all read zero occasionally and then recover.

It happens shortly after starting and then again whilst driving. No other faults/effects happen and all other indications on facia remain on - any ideas what the problem may be.

This is a very common problem, which will eventually become permanent and sadly not easily solved. There are 3 options open to you.

1) New dashpod, V. Expensive.

2) Get your current dashpod fixed,

3) Remove a fuse to get the instruments back properly.

Thanks mannyo,

It looks like I will need to take the instrument dash off and try for dry joints.

I am confused though that removing fuse 15 fixes the problem. If the voltage

regulator is the problem and it only feeds the four gauges how does removing

fuse 15 clear the fault. There must be some connection to the two circuits - but

without a circuit diagram it's not obvious.

One question though - will removing the dash and instrument cluster need any code resets?

No resets required, I removed one recently for the same issue.
