Octavia FSI 2.0

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Im new here and im about to get myself an octavia 2.0 fsi manufactured 2005 and registered in early 2006. Mileage is 22.5k miles. As i was made to understand from various VAG forums that cambelt replacement intervals is at 80k or 4 years whichever comes first, the 4 years is considered from manufacturing date or registration date?

At 22500 miles, what would be due for replacement? belts? shocks?

Appreciate some feedbacks from experts heere. Thanks a million bunch:thumbup:

hi mate.

i've just put the deposit down on a 2.0 fsi!

should be done 60k/4 years, whichever is soonest so yours will need doing very shortly like mine is!

from what i've read its 80k on the disels.. but people are saying they should be done at 60 still!

infact. soon as i've got the key for mine (done 42k) its off to my regular mechanic to get a cambelt/water pump done/whatever else needs doing to upkeep the service history

neomancer,

I guess, its 4 years from manufacturing date then. I should be echoing you with the replacement thingy to remove the "worry" factor. Im not quite sure the recommendation from skoda on belt replacement intervals. Anyway, Cheers mate. I will let you all know once i got my hands on octavia.

I have the same model, it's an 06 reg, and i bought it in January this year and it only had 22k miles on it. Very pleased with it so far except that it needed a new bearing in the gearbox after only 23k miles, but all the work was done under warranty so cost me nothing.

I would take the date the car was registered as its anniversary for any maintenance parts, seeing as it wouldnt have done any miles before then. With such low miles i dont thing anything should be needing replacment yet. Just enjoy your new car.

So registration year instead? (this surely sounds better) i cant help but wondering wat would be the lifespan for rubber material. I think, for tyre, it can no longer be used after 6th year of manufacture. It should be similar for belting, no? correct me if im wrong.:D

im getting my belt done to keep the service history up to scratch. i'm sure it probably would survive up to 60k, but its a black mark on the service history!

Thanks guys for the inputs.. considering the car age, currently i am very much inclined towards the 4 years calculated from registration date as the current threshold for belt replacement. Hopefully, the service record is not gonna be stained black by this decision.
