Front Discs 2.8

Recommended Posts

Morning All,

Have new pads to put in but the discs look to me as if smaller pads have been used at some point - its worn 'in the middle' of disc more than is covered by the present ones!!

Sorry to ask, but is it very easy or otherwise to put new discs on please?

Thanks in advance - I did look on the forum but could'nt find details.

All the best

JJ

Discs do wear a lip to the outer edge, thats nothing to worry about, replacing the pads is easy, it's wheel off, turn the caliper outwards with the steering wheel, disconnect the sensor and anti rattle wire, undo the two 7 or 8mm allen key bolts until you can move them in and out, no need to pull them out, push the piston back remove old pads and fit new pads, reverse to finish.

Discs I believe aren't held by anything other than the wheel bolts, you might be able to take them off once the caliper is undone, but iirc you need to remove the caliper carrier as well.

You don't need a winder tool for the front, only the rear.

Rears need a winder, it's wheel off, and unbolt the two bolt pins (I think it's bolts iirc) and remove the caliper, anti rattle and pads, wind the caliper back and fit new pads, reverse to finish, I'm not sure about the rear discs so I'll have to let someone who knows reply. hth.
