safety precautions

Featured Replies

what are the safety precautions for working on

the airbag system?

i have to disconnect the key switch in glovebox

to fit in a new glovebox .

could this throw up a code error on dash.

I'd pull the battery to avoid any issues, do what you need, then put it back.

Minimum would be battery off and leave for a good while to make sure the whole system is discharged before you touch it.

As long as you take the battery off and do the work making sure the cable is attached before you put the ignition on you should not get an error code.

Worth noting if you pull the battery you will get an orange light relating to the power steering, but that should go out after a short drive. If not it's a VAG-COM or dealer visit.
