seat belt warning not working

Featured Replies

hello guys

i have an octavia 2009

when i start the engine i get the light of the seat belt warning on on the dash board

then it turns off what ever am using the seat belt or not

no warning chimes

what's wrong ????????

You need to get the car back to the dealerr to have a look at.

Or get someone with VCDS to see if there are any fault codes.

It could be something as simple as a faulty connection but you have a Warranty so tell the dealer to fix it for you.

isn't this what happens when the warning is turned off in maxidot or using VAG-COM?

No the Belt Warning should still illuminate even if the chime is turned off.

It should illuminate solid while stationary and then when you go over about 12mph it should start flashing

It will also do the same if you un-buckle whilst driving

HTH

I'm sure mine doesn't do this! Although on second thoughts you might be right! Don't usually have the belt off! Ignore me! :)

My car only has Belt Warning and sound for the driver not the passenger - unlike my Volvo did for both. Is this normal?

Why i know this is live up a 80yard drive from main road and often take belt off when on my land.

James.

Yes only the driver side has the Warning

so is it possible to control it from the maxidot or i must visit my dealer to fix it with the vagcom

Mines a 2007 vRS dunno if that makes a difference

On my previous 06 ambiente the seatbelt warning chimed all the time when driving if the seatbelt wasn't fastened. On my 08 Elegance the light is on and I think it then chimes and flashes when you reach 20 kph.

i would disable it and re enable it with vag com and it might solve it.
