Featured Replies

was looking in the argos catalougue and saw the obd11 scanner that one plugs into the designated socket to read fault codes

has anyone bought one of these items? and if so, are they any good? regards andy

vagcom is more detailed and allows you to make changes too.

If its just a simple engine code reader for VAG you want, I'll suggest the Gendan VAG one for under £40 delivered - but you would then need to search online for the complete VAG engine fault codes - that is easy to do though. I bought one to have in the glove box for on-the-road problems. Don't get me wrong VCDS from a VAG-COM dealer is the real thing - I've got that as well - for home or "deeper" fault finding. (www.gendan.co.uk) . Just remember, places like Gendan sell car diagnostic tools etc - Argos sells - hummm - maybe just cheap stuff as opposed to stuff cheap - Argos will not/can not help you out if you have a problem with using this tool - it would just be money back (maybe) or a swop. Don't get me wrong, I've probably got an up to date Argos catologue in the house "just in case" - but I know the limitations of buying stuff there!
