Octy RS diesel ?

Featured Replies

Nagged at my dealer again today to see if he has details of what the new RS is going to be, not really sure but expecting the new 200BHP motor from the golf, he wouldn't be drawn on a diesel variant.

My problem is this. I'll soon be disposing of my 03 Octy RS and going down the oil burning route. Despite this I still want something sporty looking with reasonable performance, rumours of the Audi 2.5 V6 diesel powering the new RS suited me down to the ground. I can only really delay this process if I know for sure that a diesel RS is on the way....failing that I'll have too bite the bullet and am really struggling to not pay silly money.

Some light at the end of the tunnel is the new Mondeo ST TDCi which I have to say is pretty impressive. LIst price is daft but brokers doing UK cars Delivered for 17k.

So any insight on a diesel Octy RS, thoughts on other options (Ie Mondeo ST), interest in buying a beautiful black vRS (waiting to see what broker offers PX!)

Cheers,

James.

Somehow I doubt it's going to be a diesel version ...........think the 2.0 FSI turbo engine is going to be the one :D

There have been rumours that there will be a 2.0 TDi vRS Octavia II, and I can see it being quite a good choice on the part of Skoda.

But it wont be about until the end of next year at the earliest I would have thought.

Honda Accord diesel with the sport trim and 17'' alloy upgrade.

Engine not the most powerful but it's apparently very refined and quite. Alos got good pull.

Tempted by one myself.......list price is too expensive though and brokers can't do much on the price. One owners ones are a more reasonable

Why don't they do both?

Perhaps they are...

Why don't they do both?

Indeed - if VW can do it with the Golf GTi, no good reason why Skoda couldn't with the Octy...

Particularly as Skoda's supposed to be the value brand, and value-minded people seem to like diesel!

Rob.

Ahh..

But would a diesel engined RS be more expensive? ;)

If Skoda's marketing dept have any sense, there will be a choice of Petrol or Diesel.

We shall see.

Is the new(ish) VAG 2.0 TDI engine available as 140bhp only or is there a tweaked version available ? The outgoing PD was available with 100 or 110, 130 and 150 bhp IIRC ?

And a 160.

On that basis I'd expect at least 170 and probably 180bhp from a performance version 2.0tdi

Certainly. If the Ibiza GTi is running around with a 160 diesel then they could at least go to that in the Octy, lack of news though is not good. Having said that broker has just come back with PX valuation, e-mail back to them had two words in it, the latter was off!! Wouldn't even get a 51 plate 40+k miler for that, will try some other brokers and may see if Ford will price match (some hope), failing that may think private sale or abondon whole idea

the Audi a3 definately had a 180bhp tdi, if not a 200.

The Audi A3 didnt/doesnt have a 180 bhp or 200 bhp Diesel as std. the 140 bhp 2.0 TDi is the most powerfull as std in the A3.

And the 160 bhp Cupra TDi lump wouldnt be used as its not Euro 4 compliant (its an older 8v PD).

Hmmm, sure i read a magazine review of a 2.0 tdi A3 with more than 140. Audi's website doesn't list any though.

A3's are offered with 'dealer/factoryfit' ABT chips which take them to ~170.

new Golf GTi is coming with a 160BHP version of the 2.0 16v tdi engine apparently.

I'd imagine there probably will be a vRS TDi octavia - it would make sense - only need to see how many Leon Cupra TDi's have sold :)

And the waiting list for the Leon Cupra TDi is huge now, they cant make the quick enough.

And only certain dealers will offer remaps, and I doubt they are approved by the factory.
